Arsenal: Fans fume over incident during clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City

Arsenal fans have been left fuming after an incident in Manchester City’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur brought back flashbacks from their draw away to Crystal Palace earlier this season.

Raheem Sterling was going into a challenge with Spurs attacker Dele Alli and caught the Englishman on the ankle with his studs (via BBC). However, after VAR had taken a look at the altercation, it was only deemed to be a yellow card offence. Images of the foul showed that it was not too dissimilar to the incident involving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang against the Eagles last month (via MGH).

Following the game, head coach Jose Mourinho spoke out against the decision made as he claimed only Kevin Friend could explain why it wasn’t a sending off for the winger. It seems as though fans of the red half of north London agreed with the Portuguese coach as they took to Twitter to voice their opinions.
