A lot of Arsenal fans on Twitter last night were quick to point out that despite the fact Danny Welbeck’s England failed to get past Croatia in the World Cup semi-finals, they still have one player left in Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman signed for Chelsea back in January but there’s still a lot of love for the striker from the Gunners.
All Arsenal players are out of the World Cup now…

When he retires from football, it’s likely that Giroud will be remembered most fondly for his time at The Emirates. The big French striker scored 105 goals in 253 games for the North London side and he was a fan favourite in his six and a half seasons under Arsene Wenger at the club. However, he’s now a Chelsea player and stands just 90 minutes away from being a World Cup winner with France.
The striker turns 32 in September and doesn’t have a lot of time left in his career so winning the World Cup would be huge for the frontman. The striker has already picked up some impressive awards and accolades. He won the Puskas award for 2017 with his exquisite scorpion kick goal against Crystal Palace, he’s won four FA Cups with Arsenal and Chelsea and he’s also 4th on France’s all-time goalscorers list with 31 strikes, tied with Zinedine Zidane.

Even just from the tweets above, it’s clear as day that the Arsenal fans still believe Giroud is one of them despite his departure over six months ago.
