Many Arsenal fans are raging over a transfer question from AFTV Media that asked their Twitter followers if they would consider signing Jerome Boateng.
The north London club have been linked with the German international before, as a recent report from Foot Mercato suggested that Arsenal tried to secure his services in the winter, but also face competition from rivals Chelsea for his signature.
Boateng has won a staggering 22 trophies in his illustrious career so far, including a World Cup, one Champions League and seven league titles in his native Germany, according to Transfermarkt. He was also crowned German Footballer of the Year in 2016, as per the website.
However, one Gooner said that he is just a ‘smokescreen for Upamecano’, whilst another said he was ‘Sokratis 2.0’. Comparing the three central defenders in their domestic leagues this season, Upamecano has won more tackles and interceptions, and averages more shots, key passes and dribbles, according to Whoscored.
The 21-year old is reportedly a transfer target for Arsenal, and would provide a younger option than Boateng. These supporters do not seem to fancy the 31-year old:
