Many Arsenal fans have lost their rag with new signing Nicolas Pepe after he missed a chance yesterday evening.
Popular fan account @AFTVMedia were tweeting live updates of the match, and when in the 74th minute they tweeted that Pepe had a “much better effort” after his shot went wide, many fans couldn’t contain themselves.
The Ivorian forward started the match for Arsenal and was taken off in the 78th minute for Gabriel Martinelli. Despite showing some glimpses of real quality, Pepe was ultimately unable to have a huge impact on the match and even missed a golden opportunity in the first half.
The £72m club-record buy has only scored once for the Gunners since joining and that was from the penalty spot. It’s a long way away from the form he was in at Lille, as he managed to score 35 goals in just 74 appearances for the French side (BBC).
Many Arsenal fans were furious with Pepe, with many already slating the signing and one even saying that he is a “waste of money”, despite playing fewer than 10 league games.
