It seems like Mikel Arteta will have to make a big decision if he wants to bring Jonathan David to Arsenal, as the Canadian star will only join if room is made for him at the club.
The Daily Express reported recently that Manchester United and Arsenal have increased their efforts to sign the forward currently playing in the Belgian First Division A for Gent.

However now, according to the The Telegraph, David will only want to join the Gunners if room is made for him by selling either Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette.
The Canadian has been on fire in Belgium, scoring 37 goals in 83 appearances, per Transfermarkt. It is not just David’s goals that have caught the eye of the Premier League sides either, as he has averaged 2.1 shots and 1.1 successful dribbles per game, per WhoScored.
However, it is another question as to whether the player should be a replacement for one of the two Gunners stars in question. Between them, they have 24 goals this campaign, and have been crucial to the club.

But with Aubameyang’s future currently unknown as rumours around his contract continue, it could be the ideal time to be thinking of a replacement. The Gabon international striker is now 31, whilst Jonathan David is only 20, so the Gent forward could become a future star at Arsenal.
Aubameyang is a huge influence at the Gunners, but Arteta will need to be thinking about his replacement sooner rather than later, and he might have to take a punt and let him go sooner rather than later if he is desperate to sign David.
