Arsene Wenger will be relieved that three of his injured defenders are returning to fitness, as Johan Djourou, Laurent Koscielny and Sebastien Squillaci have start training again.
Arsenal have had a slow start to the season, largely due to a poor defensive record, and have lost four of their first seven games.
With the mentioned trio and vice-captain Thomas Vermaelen on the sidelines, Wenger has had to resort to playing midfielder Alex Song at the back, but this should only be a temporary measure.
Koscielny and Djourou have missed the last two fixtures against Tottenham and Olympiakos, but Sky Sports believes the pair are on the verge of being able to return, with Sunday’s game against Sunderland in mind.
Squillaci has not yet featured this season, but is back in team training and should make himself available for selection over the next coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Toulouse defender Aymen Abdennour has stated that The Gunners are keen to bring him to North London after a good start to his Ligue 1 campaign.
“It’s true, I’ve heard a lot of talk while I’ve been at Toulouse,” the Tunisia international told Footplus.
“They come to watch and scout players. They came to see our last three matches in which I put forward excellent performances for my side.
“If there’s something good for the player and for Toulouse in me being transferred to a big club like Arsenal then why not? Right now I’m still happy at my club. I want to improve at Toulouse,” he stated.
Abdennour is predominantly a left back, and is in his first season in the French top flight after playing at Werder Bremen last term.
