Arsenal are looking to get themselves back in and amongst the Champions League picture next season under what will be a new manager, after Arsene Wenger announced he will not be continuing beyond this campaign. 

The Gunners fans here in the Tavern will be hoping the club can secure their next manager swiftly, and will also be hoping that the board are willing to back their new man to the tune of plenty of funds in the summer.

Our landlord thinks that the club have been showing signs in the last few windows of breaking the mould and spending big, but he thinks that needs to continue into the summer if the club are to get back in with any sort of chance of winning the title.

Strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have both been brought in, but there is a feeling more firepower could be needed next season at the Emirates.

With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at TWO strikers who Arsenal could look to sign this summer…

Dries Mertens

The Belgian striker has once again had a superb campaign for Napoli, smashing in 17 goals and impressing as the Italians look to be on the verge of usurping Juventus atop Serie A.

Mertens has long been an impressive player who has often put plenty of clubs on notice with his showings, and he would appear to be made for a place in the English game.

Full of speed, capable in front of goal, and someone who can play across all the forward positions, Mertens would be a superb addition for the Gunners.

Rodrigo

The Spanish striker has smashed in 16 goals for Valencia this season as the club from the Mestalla have enjoyed something of a resurgence in form in La Liga.

The forward, who primarily plays directly down the middle but can drift wide, is a lethal finisher and someone who has steadily improved over the last few seasons to become a real superstar in the Spanish game.

Rodrigo would fit in well with the Gunners and their attacking options, and with talk of Luis Enrique taking over, could be a player who the former Barcelona midfielder opts to take a look at.
