Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are having the season from hell recently. Indeed, while things haven’t been great for a few years now, the manner in which their last few games have gone has seriously annoyed our regular Gooners.

After losing three matches in a week across three competitions, the pressure was mounting on Arsene Wenger. Our Gunner fans in the bar are certainly not happy with recent results as a whole, but more importantly their displays on the pitch, with many of their stars looking like they’ve given up.

As always, Arsenal Fan TV has been the place to watch fans blowing up on social media, and many of the regulars have been sharing the videos on the social sites. However, a few decent signings could finally transform this team of average achievers in recent years into the genuine title contenders that the fans have been waiting for since 2004.

It may look a long way away right at this moment in time, but our landlord feels that after the two signings in the January window, a further TWO in key areas could be the making of this Arsenal side. With that said, Wenger should be taking a closer look at these players in the international break…

Jan Oblak

Arsenal need to have a strong goalkeeper in between the sticks to cement his place for many years to come and with the ageing Petr Cech going into his mid-30s, he is certainly starting to show signs of the years catching up to him. With that in mind, the Gunners have to start to look to replace him with a younger version.

Jan Oblak is Atletico Madrid’s No.1 and is one of the best in La Liga, if not the whole of Europe according to our barman. The Slovenian stands at well over six foot and is still only 25 and, with many years to offer, he surely must be a target to watch this break.

Fabinho

Fabinho is a 24-year-old defensive midfielder who loves nothing better than to get in amongst it in the centre of the park, which is just what the Gunners need. Arsenal, have for a long time desperately needed a strong holding midfielder, and none come better than the Monaco man at present.

He also has an eye for goal, picking up six goals so far this season, which would add a lot to their current midfield. Indeed, he could be the midfield lynchpin that the Gunners and the fans have been looking for at last.
