Arsenal suffer another unwelcome blow to title challenge

As if their week couldn’t get much worse right now, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been lamenting further bad news that’s ended up right at the foot of their door.

Looking further and further away from the Premier League’s top order with every passing game right now, what the Gunners really didn’t need was some thoroughly unwelcome injury news.

Well, thanks to confirmation in the Guardian, that’s exactly what they’ve got.

They’ve revealed midfielder Francis Coquelin will be out of action for up to four weeks, after he went off injured during the pulsating 3-3 draw with Bournemouth earlier this week.

The Frenchman’s injury leaves Arsene Wenger desperately short in central midfield, with Santi Cazorla also out injured and Mohamed Elneny away with Egpyt at the African Cup of Nations.

That just leaves just summer signing Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey fit for selection in those berths for up to a month, casting further doubts on their ability to truly challenge for the Premier League crown.

How big a blow will this be to Arsenal? Let us know below..
