Arsenal fans are thinking of who to turn to next after Metro revealed that Inter Milan star Mateo Kovacic is staying put, says his agent.
Many punters in the Transfer Tavern believed that the 20-year-old was destined to arrive at the Emirates in the summer.
But now his agent, Nikky Vuksan, has dismissed rumours of his client making his move to the Premier League.
Liverpool were also outside favourites to land his signature, so they will also be disappointed that he is unavailable.
Many expected him to depart the San Siro because Roberto Mancini will want to raise the funds to sign his former player Yaya Toure from Manchester City.
Vuksan said: ‘It is not going to happen. Mateo extended his contract with Inter in January.
‘Could it be that clubs are negotiating? No, that is not possible without Mateo and me knowing about it.
‘Also, I have a player at Liverpool, Dejan Lovren so I would know about it.’
So Arsene Wenger will now have to rethink his options as he looks to spend big money next summer.
