While the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern could really do with some cheering up on the trophy front, many of them are desperate to read rumours and reports that do not involve the future of Arsene Wenger.
The Frenchman’s situation has been widely discussed of late and many of our north London locals are quite frankly bored of the matter, so reports from the Sun have at least taken their minds off of it. They claim the Gunners are casting keen eyes over a move for Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye, who has proved oh so impressive for the Toffees since joining over the course of the summer.
Despite playing in the dreadful Aston Villa side last season, the tireless Senegal international is emerging as an N’Golo Kante-like presence in the engine room, second to the Chelsea in terms of tackles and interceptions made last season. With that in mind, the 27-year-0ld is understood to have attracted interest from the Emirates.
For their part, Everton are said to be keen to tie him down to a new deal at Goodison Park, though the Arsenal fans in the bar are desperate to see him arrive, having seen Kante’s impact over in SW6 this season.
