Arsenal look set to once again challenge for the title this season and our local Gunners punters here in the Transfer Tavern are excited about the months to come.

They are on a five game winning streak ahead of their game against Swansea this weekend, with some of their players performing very well indeed.

Players like Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have come back into the side after being written off somewhat last season, and they should be commended for turning things around in the way they have.

It’s also testament to Arsene Wenger’s knowledge of his players and the faith he puts in them to turn things around and ahead of January and the transfer window, he may have to do so again with other struggling players this season.

Our landlord agrees and thinks these TWO in particular should not be got rid of in January just yet……

Olivier Giroud

Giroud has just one assist to his name so far this season in all competitions and needs to be doing more to get his place back in the side.

Nevertheless, he shouldn’t be let go of by the club given that he can produce decent performances when he wants too and, equally, at the end of the day he is Arsenal’s most experienced, orthodox, centre forward.

Kieran Gibbs

Gibbs seems to be stuck behind Nacho Monreal in the pecking order for Arsenal but that does not mean he should be let go by the club.

There’s very little in it in terms of talent between the two defenders, and that suggests that should he get into the side for whatever reason, he may be able to nail down a spot.

That kind of competition for places is needed at every club and so Arsenal shouldn’t lose it.
