Celtic supporters were extremely proud of their side in the Transfer Tavern last night despite seeing the Bhoys narrowly lose to German giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League, a result which did knock them out of the competition.
Brendan Rodgers’ men went into their clash with the Bundesliga leaders having won one of their three group stage games, but found themselves behind to Jupp Heynckes’ side after just 22 minutes when Kingsley Coman finished after poor defending from Dedryck Boyata. However, the hosts more than matched Bayern and deservedly equalised 16 minutes from time through Callum McGregor, although they weren’t level for long as Javi Martinez headed home the winner for the visitors just three minutes later to knock Celtic out of the competition.
Nonetheless, qualification for the Europa League is very much on for Rodgers’ side given they are third and three points clear of Anderlecht, but the overwhelming response from our resident Bhoys fans was that of pride and delight at how well their side performed against one of Europe’s elite.
And on a night of several impressive performances, there was one man in particular who stood out at Celtic Park, namely winger James Forrest.
The 26-year-old came up through the ranks at the Scottish giants and has since gone on to play 256 times for the Bhoys, but yesterday’s display was certainly one of his best yet.
And several Celtic supporters took to Twitter to laud the Scotland international for his efforts against Heynckes’ men…

Don’t praise Forrest very often, but have to say he was BRILLIANT last night. As good as I have seen him in a Celtic shirt.
