The Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been dancing on the pool tables ever since the weekend as their beloved club made it two wins on the spin against bitter rivals, Aberdeen.
Indeed, our local Light Blues were delighted to see the Dons smashed with relative ease twice in just a few days and many of the Gers who prop up our bar are thankful for one man in particular after Sunday’s victory at Pittodrie. Josh Windass may not have always convinced during his time with the club, though certainly proved effective when played centrally on Sunday.
So, our Rangers-mad punters are actually quite annoyed to read reports from Football Insider. They claim Wigan Athletic are interested in bringing the former Accrington Stanley man back to England in January as they look to make an instant return to the Championship.
Latics chief Paul Cook is understood to have retained a big interest in the 23-year-old, though the report does claim Rangers would be reluctant to lose the midfielder after his recent upturn in form.
Landlord’s Verdict:
Windass has proven of late that he can be a wonderful outlet when played in a central attacking midfield position. His raw pace can threaten anyone though surely a transfer decision would have to wait until the club know what they’re doing manager wise.
