Barcelona: Fans react to Ernesto Valverde’s comments

It’s fair to say that Ernesto Valverde is not a popular figure among the majority of Barcelona supporters.

After disappointing results against the likes of Athletic Bilbao and Osasuna already this term, some fans are growing tired of the 55-year-old for a number of different reasons, one of which being the philosophy he has implemented at the club since his arrival in 2017.

Many supporters believe that his style of football is too defensive and boring, and there is at least a semblance of belief that he has taken away the ‘tika taka’, creative spark which went before him for so many years; the thing which made Barcelona the club they are.

Some supporters have been left angered by the way he mismanaged Philippe Coutinho last season, something highlighted by a Catalan fan on Quora, while his mistreatment of Malcolm during his time at the club last term also infuriated a collection of supporters, per the Express.

Speaking ahead of his team’s Champions League curtain-raiser against Borussia Dortmund yesterday, Valverde’s comments were met with some pretty blunt responses from fans on Twitter…
