Lionel Messi is still yet to feature for Barcelona this season. The Argentinian playmaker has missed the Catalans’ opening four league games with a calf injury, but could be in line to return to action soon, if pictures on social media are anything to go by.
Barca currently lie fifth in La Liga having won two, drawn one and lost one of their opening four fixtures this term. Ernesto Valverde’s side returned to winning ways on Saturday, beating Valencia 5-2 at the Camp Nou thanks to goals from Ansu Fati, Frenkie de Jong, Gerard Pique and the returning Luis Suarez (2).
The Spaniards face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday evening in what looks set to be a challenging fixture at Signal Iduna Park, given the Germans’ form in the Bundesliga.
Messi’s involvement on Tuesday remains to be seen (the Evening Standard have claimed he has travelled to Germany), but signs of his return look promising, after Barcelona’s official Twitter account posted a photo of the 32-year-old back in training on Sunday afternoon.
