Barcelona’s teenage sensation, Ansu Fati, turned 17 yesterday.
The young Spaniard has been a surprise revelation for the Blaugrana this term having broken into the first-team fold due to a spout of injuries at the beginning of the campaign.

Fati has now made seven appearances for the first team this season, scoring twice (via Transfermarkt). He is now viewed as an important member in Ernesto Valverde’s senior squad, proven by the fact that he started ahead of Antoine Griezmann on Tuesday evening as Barcelona thrashed Valladolid 5-1 at the Camp Nou.
El Mundo Deportivo (via the Mail) report that Fati is set to be offered a new contract in Catalonia, with his release clause set to be increased to a whopping £88m.
It is understandable why Barcelona would want to protect their young asset from any club’s wishing to poach him in the future, as it is clear that Fati has a huge future in the game.
