Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba has picked up a hamstring injury and will be sidelined for two to three weeks, according to the club’s official website.
The Spain international sustained the injury during the Catalans’ 0-0 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night.
After early indications suggested that the 30-year-old would be sidelined for over a month with this injury, AS (via Sport English) report that the knock is in fact not as bad as first feared, and that he should return to action “between 10-15 days”.
That does still mean that Alba will miss the Blaugrana’s upcoming La Liga fixtures against Granada, Villarreal and Getafe – with all three of those games coming in the next two weeks.
This does leave the left-back berth wide open for Junior Firpo to fill after the 23-year-old signed from Real Betis in the summer. Firpo is yet to start a game for Barca this term, but fans are hopeful that they’ll get to see more of him with Alba temporarily ruled out of action.
