Manchester United have struggled to ensure consistency at times under Jose Mourinho this season, but things have certainly improved in recent times.
The Red Devils will be desperate to enjoy a positive run of form after the international break as they continue to hunt down a top four spot. But, after slipping up in the Manchester derby recently, a Champions League place is becoming harder to achieve with other teams picking up points.
Interestingly, this season has seen a couple of the club’s attackers come under the spotlight at times, with Anthony Martial beginning to build up ahead of steam and Marcus Rashford struggling to make contributions.
With that in mind, let’s compare these two transfers…
MARCUS RASHFORD
Marcus Rashford joined the academy system at Manchester United at the age of seven. The Englishman scored two goals on his debut for the Red Devils and then went on to mark his Premier League debut with a brace.
Indeed, the 21-year-old has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in world football and has the potential to become one of the best. Rashford managed to find the back of the net eight times during his breakthrough season and added 24 goals to his tally over the next couple of campaigns, but things haven’t gone to plan this season.
The attacker has been criticised for his lack of contributions in what has been a rather disappointing campaign for Manchester United so far, with Anthony Martial picking up the pieces for United at this moment in time.

ANTHONY MARTIAL
Anthony Martial made the move to Manchester United as the world’s most expensive teenager back in 2015, which was definitely a gamble as things haven’t always been rosy for the youngster at Old Trafford.
Indeed, the winger was an instant hit for United as he scored 18 goals and provided 11 assists for his teammates, but he only managed to score a combined 19 goals over the course of the following two seasons.
The 22-year-old was linked with a move away from Manchester during the summer after struggling for game time last season, and he didn’t enjoy many minutes on the field towards the start of the current campaign.
But, he has established himself as United’s star man since becoming a regular feature under Jose Mourinho, with an impressive seven goals to his name and a number of match-winning performances.
TT GRADE: A
TT VERDICT:
When comparing these two, it’s clear to see that Anthony Martial is at the top of his game, while Marcus Rashford is struggling to even find his feet in front of goal as a spectator for large parts.
The Frenchman has managed to find the back of the net on a number of occasions and has single-handedly clawed Manchester United out of a whole at times.
Meanwhile, the Englishman has shown moment of promise and has a bright future ahead of him, but his performances in the current campaign haven’t warranted any kind of special mention.
Both players will play a huge part in the Red Devils’ push for silverware and have been influential in seasons gone by, but it’s Martial’s upturn in form and stats in the current campaign that have put him ahead.
