Portsmouth’s Nadir Belhadj is keen on a move away from Fratton Park in order to secure a place at next summer’s World Cup, in which his Algeria side will face England.
The 27-year-old joined the South Coast club from French side Lens in 2008 yet has found himself confined to the bench in recent weeks, having not started a Premier League game since September, with the likes of Hermann Hreidarsson being preferred.
The Algerian full back said, “I’ve been thinking of a departure. Players likely to go to the World Cup are playing but I’m confined to the bench.”
“I don’t want to get to the World Cup without games in my legs, so it’s in my interest to look for game time elsewhere. “
“I’ll leave in January for a club where they will have confidence in me. I want a change of air.”
