Benny Says LOL!

Benoit Assou Ekotto’s appearances can be varied in outcome, but what’s for certain is the heart and commitment he puts into every performance.

Benny has charmed most Spurs fans with his odd boots, crazy ‘fro and his endlessly upbeat Tweeting 99% of which contain the ‘word’ LOL. But it was his interview in The Guardian that won him the most respect.

His frank admission that football is a job and one that pays well was frank and refreshing. If wanting to do well is mercenary, then so be it. At least he doesn’t treat fans like children and try to kid them he was born ‘loving the badge.’

It is clear from reading his Facebook and Twitter accounts that he loves playing for Spurs and it genuinely saddens him when things aren’t going as well as they ought to. If he gives 100% and is professional in the manner in which he plays then who can criticize him for being a realist?

In the same interview he was brilliantly scathing about Damien Comolli.

“Comolli, oh la la, la la,” [Assou-Ekotto says, having let out a long, low whistle.] “I have one simple rule; try to be a man all your life.

I said to Comolli that I had a problem with Jol but he said it was all in my head. But then, after Jol left, he said: ‘Yes, there was a problem.’ Try to be a man!

Benny is a star and for as long as we have him on the books, he should be treasured.

Well now, when it comes to football, one man has for many years been the most noticeable, the most controversial, and occasionally the most successful blogger this country has ever produced. His pithy words and abrasive style make him as famous off the pitch as he is on it. This man is Escapini. "I love football. Football she's a cruel mistress. She's, she's more than a mistress. She's a wife, she's a mother, she's a daughter, she's an errant child. She's a… she's a… she can make you laugh, she make you cry. She can bring tears me eyes. She can bring blood to me shoulders. She can bring a kettle to the boil." "Cause football is about nothing, unless it's about something and what it is about, is football."
