Liverpool bench-boy Ryan Babel fears he is being driven out of Anfield against his own will. The Dutch striker has been the subject of repeated interest from Birmingham City, who have begun to use their new found financial power in the transfer market.
Benitez had initially rejected an offer of £9 million from McLeish however, the Scot is believed to have upped the stakes in an offer worth over £10 million and Benitez is keen to sell the out-of-favour striker in order to make funds for his own moves in the transfer market.
However Babel has made it clear that he will only consider a move if it is for the long term and can match his ambitions. Babel’s agent, Winnie Haatrecht last night said:
“It is about doing what is right for Ryan’s career as a whole, rather than taking a short-term view. We are not thinking about the World Cup. We are thinking about the next 10 years, and that is why we have to consider things carefully. I have sent details of all the interested clubs to Liverpool, and there are five or six of them. And we will make the decision that is best for him.”
Babel is believed to be keen on remaining at Anfield as he is determined that he can prove himself at the top level however, it would seem that Benitez has made his mind up and the Dutchman may have to begin considering a move elsewhere.
[Is there any substance to this and should this rumour Fly or Die?]

I think if he was considered a more important player Babel could finally find some form – a move to a smaller club is just what he needs
do we really need Babel heard he is a disruptive influence, sulky and doesnt work for the team i say 10mil could be better spent
Babel is surplus to requirements in that he doesnt perform the way we wanted him to. However, he is not surplus to requirements in that we already have a weak squad, and rafa will get about 50p of any transfer fee, so we wont be able to replace him. In an ideal world we get the £10m for him in the summer and use it to buy a decent replacement next season – Turan anyone?
he has had his chance’s his hart is not in it so good bye
