With Celtic securing a comfortable home win against Ross County, Rangers had to win to go back to the top of the league on their own, though a draw has left the two sides tied on points and goal difference, with the Parkhead club enjoying bragging rights on goals scored alone.
Rangers conceded early with James Tavernier failing to find Allan McGregor with a header and Rytoro Meshino capitalising for the Jambos. Alfredo Morelos drew Rangers level before the break but were unable to add to their tally as Hearts held on for the draw.
Gers fans were angry at the lack of quality and effort on display from some players in Light Blue and at the wasted opportunity to return to the top of the league against a team currently sit-in second bottom and struggling for form.
They took to Twitter to vent their frustrations.
Not good enough, we couldn’t cope with the Hearts endeavour and physicality. The game passed too many of our players by. We’ve thrown away top spot after only one match day, there’s a lot of games still to be played but that mentality is weak and not championship winning.

55 ain’t happening. Gerrard needs to get a grip, he’s outright refusing to punish Tav for poor form. New right back in the winter window for me.

Gerrard can’t win the big games. Another failed season looking ominous.
