Indeed, the Hoops could miss out on the midfielder this summer with only 12 months remaining on his current contract, as they may look to save the cash by securing a pre-contract agreement at some point in the future.
Therefore, this could mean that Celtic line up without the midfielder at the start of the new campaign and fail to replace Stuart Armstrong, which would put them in an unconvincing position considering how many players Rangers have drafted in.
