The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern are over the moon with the news that Peter Lovenkrands has been appointed as a full-time coach with the club’s reserve team. The 38-year-old Dane spent six years at Ibrox as a player and will be hoping that his second spell at the club, this time as a coach, is just as successful.
Very happy to have signed a full time contract at @RangersFC @RFC_Youth as coach for the Reserve team, really looking forward to getting started pic.twitter.com/zVLwAxmVH0

The Danish coach was a striker in his playing days and helped towards the club’s 2004/05 Scottish Premier League title. Now though, the ex-Rangers striker will be joining up with Steven Gerrard as the club enters a new era. The club will be looking at turning over a new leaf under the ex-Liverpool and England captain and, with six new signings and a whole new backroom staff the club will be hoping to usurp Celtic next season.
Gerrard and Lovenkrands come into the Rangers setup at a tough time. The Gers have watched on over the last two seasons as Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic have won Scottish football’s first-ever double-treble and the Hoops don’t look like letting up any time soon. The last two Old Firm matches have finished 9-0 on aggregate to the Bhoys in Green and it’ll be a testament to the ability of Stevie G if he can win Rangers first major piece of silverware since the Ibrox club made their return to Scottish football’s top flight.

Congratulations Peter and thoroughly deserved. A welcome addition to #projectstevieg and the U20’s will learn so much about how to prepare for games, put in a consistent high level performance as well as conducting themselves off the park. #letsgo
