The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are starting to believe that they’ll never sign a new goalkeeper and will be stuck with Simon Mignolet and calamity Karius next season. The club posted a Tweet saying it was 13-years to the day that they signed Pepe Reina and the fans have been calling for the Spaniard to return as he’s probably still better than the dross they currently employ.

The Liverpool fans propping our bar up could have been looking back on last season as their best since 2005 if they had a decent shot-stopper. Jurgen Klopp’s side was beaten 3-1 in the Champions League final courtesy of two almighty howlers from Loris Karius in goal, which has led to almost every Kopite out there to call for the club to sign a new man between the sticks for the new season.
The club have been linked with both Alisson Becker from Roma and Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak this summer and whilst it’s unlikely they’ll sign either of those two, there’s no doubt the club need a new ‘keeper. This is where Reina comes in. The Spanish ‘keeper spent nine-years as a Liverpool player before leaving for Bayern Munich. Now though, the Spaniard is a Milan player after signing a contract a couple of weeks ago and the Reds feel like they’ve missed a trick by not bringing the 35-year-old ‘keeper home to Anfield.

The Liverpool fans in the Tavern would love a reunion with Reina at Anfield and despite his age he could still do a job for the club.
