Bruno Fernandes: Making Liverpool’s midfield fun again

Can Liverpool get any stronger in attack? Of course they can!

If their multiple goalless draws in recent weeks pin-pointed anything, it’s that their majestic front-three cannot continue serving them consistently for far too much longer. Well, without some added inspiration of course. With that in mind, if Liverpool want to reassert their position as European giants, they need to build up a more refined squad.

The Reds have persisting issues in midfield, with a lack of creativity and incisiveness hurting them in crucial points. However, they seem to be looking forward toward solving those problems. According to reports earlier this week from Portuguese A Bola via Sport Witness, the Merseyside giants are among the major continental clubs monitoring Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes, who has broken through as one of the hottest midfield prospects in Europe over the course of recent campaigns.

Fernandes’ taken the Primeira Liga by storm this season, scoring 12 goals and assisting 9 for the Portuguese giants so far in 23 appearances. Not only that, but he’s also maintained an average of close to three key passes per game and 3.3 shots per game (stats via WhoScored) to help them produce some scintillating attacking football for the fans.

In fact, Portuguese outlet CM Journal even claimed that the Sporting Lisbon star thrilled international teammate and footballing icon Cristiano Ronaldo after his performance for the capital giants against Clube Desportivo de Tondela back in 2017. High praise indeed.

A compact central-midfield with a brilliant eye for goal, Fernandes is a hard-working figure who also works tirelessly to help his side defend. His amazing all-around performances have caught attention from all over, yet Liverpool need to work fast to attain his services. Having missed out on Nabil Fekir last summer as a Philippe Coutinho replacement, the Reds’ midfield would actually be exciting again if he could land the Portugal international.

Jurgen Klopp’s exciting style would swoon him into coming into the Premier League. Fernandes can add creativity and that extra spark from the middle, helping the Reds produce some wonderful football consistently while pulling the strings to maximize their attack’s potential.
