Claude Puel came into Southampton with some scepticism from The Saint’s fans in the Transfer Tavern…
However, Puel has managed to put Southampton in a respectable 8th place in the league.
Southampton have yet again managed to keep consistent despite losing more key names this season.
However, despite the rise of Van Dijk – there have unfortunately been some players who haven’t impressed in Puel’s side.
If Southampton want to secure another European finish then they will need to offload some players in January and bring in footballers who can take Southampton back into the Europa League.
So with that said, Puel needs to axe these 2 Southampton players in January…
Jordy Clasie

The Dutchman had a fairly successful first season with the Saints, helping them into the Europa League.
However, this season, Clasie has been somewhat of a disappointment.
The former Feyenoord man has only started eight times in the league and he has failed to make an impact in Puel’s new look side.
So, with Puel not favouring the midfielder, it might be time to let Clasie go in favour of a midfielder that Puel will utilise to his maximum.
Shane Long

The Irish international has been with Southampton for three seasons and whilst he has served the club well – Long seems to not have the quality that a Europa League team needs.
Long has failed to score a goal in the league this season and while he may have scored if he didn’t get injured, his overall play in game is still lacking.
He could still go for a good fee and so if the price is right Puel may consider selling the forward for another super sub striker.
Who do you think Puel should let go? Tell us bellow with your opinions!
