Carlo states “Chelsea have done better than United”

The Gob On Legs 8 December 2009, 15:30 3 minutes read

CarloAncelottiIt’s time for our bi-weekly look at what the great and good in the world of Premier League football, from Sir Alex Ferguson and Carlo Ancelotti at the top, to Avram Grant and his melting visage down at the bottom, have been saying over the past few days and what they actually meant.

“Until now, we have done better than Manchester United. We have two more points at the top and Chelsea won the game against them.” Carlo Ancelotti (Chelsea) means…

“All you clever clogs who thought I’d struggle! Eat that! It’s not over yet, but we couldn’t have done much better could we? Remember this when my new contract is being discussed Uncle Roman!”

“Alberto’s available to play and has been for more than a month…I don’t know the reasons why Benítez has chosen not to play him since he came back from injury.” Alberto Aquilani’s father and medic at AS Roma football club means…

“Look, your guess is as good as mine. If you can understand the manager and his decisions then you are a better man than me. Just don’t blame my son or his former teams medical staff for this, ok?”

“Looking at the groups, I’m not sure whether being top or second actually matters. That boosts us because, if we finish second, it doesn’t matter. You have one group with AC Milan and Real Madrid, another with Juventus, Bordeaux and Bayern Munich and another with Inter Milan, Rubin Kazan and Barcelona. If you get one of those teams, it’s much of a muchness. The only advantage is playing the second leg at home.” Sir Alex Ferguson (Manchester United) means…

“Given our defensive problems and the fact we are up against Edin Dzeko and Grafite, I don’t fancy our chances tonight against Wolfsburg in Germany…”

“There is nothing from Manchester United at this moment concerning Edin Dzeko.” Sir Alex Ferguson (Manchester United) means…

“We’re going to sign him in January with any luck.”

“I’m convinced, though, we will finish the season in fourth and there is no better time than Christmas for a team to lay down a statement of intent.” former Liverpool legend Ian Rush means…

“Surely we can only improve after Christmas? I can’t remember it being so bad that finishing fourth was all that the club could realistically hope for.”

“I didn’t think it was a penalty” Everton boss David Moyes talking about the last minute penalty awarded to Tottenham at the weekend, which Jermaine Defoe subsequently saw saved by Tim Howard, means…

“Can you show me the way to the opticians?”

“Obviously you don’t want to be too confident – but we’re going out there to win it. Mr Capello says we can beat anyone and the players believe that.” Jermaine Defoe (Tottenham) talking up England’s World Cup chances means…

“Yeah! We can win it! I only hope I don’t get dumped at the last minute this time in place of a five week old professional who hasn’t kicked a ball yet but who can run fast… Oh and just don’t count on me for penalties…”
