Celtic: Alex McLeish drops behind-the-scenes claim on staff changes

Alex McLeish has dropped a behind-the-scenes claim on possible boardroom changes at Celtic and suggested that nobody in a senior role should be safe.

The former Rangers and Scotland manager has claimed that he has ‘seen a lot of text messages’ with regards to potential changes at Parkhead.

Dermot Desmond is reportedly plotting a big shakeup behind-the-scenes at the Scottish giants, which is set to include the appointment of his own son in Ross Desmond in a senior position.

Peter Lawwell and Nick Hammond may be ones to lose their positions as both the managing director and director of football respectively, while Neil Lennon’s job is also in question given that the Hoops have been knocked out of the UEFA Europa League and it looks as if Rangers will take the SPFL title off of their hands soon.

Speaking to Football Insider, McLeish shed some light on the situation:

“I have seen a lot of text messages saying things like that and I wondered if it was fake news, whether Dermot had said anything of the kind.

“Everybody’s under pressure, with the Celtic results and the expectations of Celtic, they’re all under pressure, no doubt.

“If you don’t get the results, then you don’t win games, and you end up, you don’t have a job.”

Celtic miles off it this season

There is no question that the Bhoys have been very poor by their standards in the 2020/21 term. Therefore, a mass change in the boardroom may well be a good idea in order to freshen up the club with some brand new ideas, as they look to take back what looks like is the Gers’ title and do a lot better in Europe.
