Celtic are set to complete the signing of 15-year-old forward Bruno Davidson, who had also been a target for several English Premier League clubs.

Football Insider reported that the teenager, who has been playing for Edinburgh-based boys’ outfit Hutchison Vale, will sign a three-year professional contract with the Scottish champions this week.
According to Football Insider, Leicester, Liverpool, Newcastle and Southampton had all expressed an interest in the youngster, adding that he had a trial with the Foxes last November.
Celtic’s interest in Davidson goes back several months, with Football Insider reporting that the Hoops had tabled a bid for him back in October.
The Scottish champions may have held a couple of key advantages over English suitors in the race for the teenager.
A move from Edinburgh to Glasgow is likely to be much less of an adjustment than relocating to an English city much further away, while Scottish clubs can offer professional terms to teenage players at an earlier age than those in England, as noted by Football Insider.
According to Football Insider, Davidson is a versatile attacker who “can play in any of the attacking positions behind the main centre-forward, including on both flanks and in a central playmaker role”.
The impending arrival of the 15-year-old continues Celtic’s penchant for snapping up teenage prospects, something that was in evidence on several occasions last summer.
Jeremie Frimpong, Jonathan Afolabi, Lee O’Connor and Luca Connell all joined the Hoops as teenagers in 2019, and while only the former has featured for the first team so far, he has managed to establish himself in Neil Lennon’s side, making 17 senior appearances to date for Celtic.
Celtic can feel very pleased to have secured the services of Davidson, whose potential is reflected in the interest in him by the Scottish champions as well as the current top two in England.
A senior debut would likely be some time in coming for the 15-year-old, although Frimpong’s emergence in the first team shows that Lennon is prepared to trust in the Hoops’ youngsters if he feels they can hold their own at that level.
Having failed with a bid for West Ham’s Conor Coventry in recent days (as per Football Insider), the capture of young Davidson should be all the more satisfying for Celtic.
