Celtic eye move for Barnsley’s Liam Lindsay

Celtic fans will be loving life at Parkhead at this moment in time as they continue to run away with the Scottish Premiership title, and they still have the opportunity to secure the treble.

Of course, securing the treble shouldn’t be too difficult for the Hoops as they’ve completely dominated proceedings this season, but improvements in Europe are definitely required.

What’s the news?

Celtic are interested in signing Liam Lindsay, according to the Mirror (via Daily Star).

The central defender currently plays for English League One side Barnsley. He’s established himself as arguably the best defender in the division and he’s also attracting the interest of Leeds, Brighton and Aston Villa.

Dedryck Boyata’s contract is set to run out in the summer, so perhaps the impressive Englishman can replace him.

The Verdict:

Lindsay is known as a star at current club Barnsley as he always leads by example at Oakwell and has played a monumental part in their automatic promotion push.

A move to Celtic would be a big step up for Lindsay but he’s more than capable of succeeding at Parkhead as he has all the ingredients to become a star at any level and he’s already shown he can ensure defensive solidity.

But, with a number of English clubs interested in signing him in the summer transfer window, perhaps a potential move to the Premier League would be too hard to turn down.

Celtic fans, do you think Lindsay could replace Boyata?
