Celtic: Fans celebrate man who gave them ‘The Celtic Song’

Many Celtic fans are celebrating the iconic figure who gave the club its historic ‘The Celtic Song’ on what would have been his 100th birthday.

The club are paying tribute to Glen Daly who is adored by the whole Hoops family for the anthem, and also made the famous ‘The Johnny Thomson Song’, to mark the 30th anniversary of the tragic death of the Celtic goalkeeper at the age of just 22, via Celtic FC.

‘The Celtic Song” was released in 1961 and has been a key anthem and chant at the club ever since. The Scottish side has often since dominated the league and also managed to win the European Cup in 1967, via Transfermarkt.

Sadly Daly has now passed away, but the song remains the tune that the fans and players hear as the teams come onto the pitch before kick off. He will be fondly remembered in the hearts of all at Celtic Park for the foreseeable future.
