A number of Celtic fans have expressed their delight at the “great news” which stemmed from yesterday’s meeting between Scottish football chiefs.
The Daily Record reported that SFA chief Ian Maxwell and SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster made a joint presentation which revealed plans to allow clubs to resume training from mid-June ahead of a proposed start of the 2020/21 Scottish league season on the weekend of 1 and 2 August. The news was subsequently shared on Twitter by @ClydeSSB.

The Hoops equalled the Scottish record of nine consecutive Premiership titles when, as 13-point leaders prior to the league’s cessation due to coronavirus, the SPFL decided to end the season early and declare the existing standings as final (as per BBC). Neil Lennon’s team will make history as the first to win 10 successive top-flight crowns if they can retain their title next season.
Their dominance of Scottish football over the last decade, as well as the sizeable lead that they enjoyed over Glasgow Rangers prior to the league’s abandonment and their fine run to the knockout rounds of the Europa League, should offer Celtic a very strong chance of becoming history makers in 2021.
