Celtic: Fans enjoyed Neil Lennon’s comments about away supporters at Pittodrie

A number of Celtic fans showed their appreciation for Neil Lennon after comments made by the manager following Sunday’s win at Pittodrie.

As noted by celticfc.net and shared on Twitter via @CelticFC, the 48-year-old paid tribute to the travelling Hoops supporters who attended the 2-1 win against Aberdeen on a day when high winds made life tricky for both sets of players. He said: “I appreciate the fans making a long trek in horrible conditions. I appreciate everything they bring us and I thought they were magnificent today. Even at 1-1 when the game could have gone either way they were still making a lot of noise.”

Even before those words of appreciation, Lennon demonstrated his gratitude for the away fans at Pittodrie by walking over to them just after the full-time whistle to celebrate and thank them for their support on a blustery afternoon that entailed a near-300 mile round trip for a midday kick-off.

Celtic’s day began brightly when Callum McGregor fired them into a 10th-minute lead, only for Ash Taylor to draw the hosts level shortly before the half-hour. Aberdeen had a series of chances either side of the interval before Kristoffer Ajer popped up with the decisive goal with only nine minutes remaining to secure the Hoops’ seventh league win in a row.
