Celtic fans laugh are absolutely lauging off Smith’s comments on Gerrard and Rodgers

The Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story in The Scottish Sun that contains comments from Rangers legend, Gordon Smith. Smith claimed that if Steven Gerrard was to take up the reigns at Ibrox then the Bluenoses would have a bigger name in charge than their Old Firm rivals. Smith also claimed he doesn’t think it could take as long as people think for Gerrard to make a Rangers revival.

Whoever takes up the Rangers job, be it Steven Gerrard or not, they have a huge rebuilding job on their hands. The Ibrox club have only been back in the Scottish Premier League for two years and it’s already apparent how big the gap is between the Gers and their Glasgow rivals, Celtic. The last two matches between the two have finished 4-0 and 5-0 in favour of Brendan Rodgers’ and it’s hard to see the gap closing overnight.

According to Gordon Smith though, the rebuild might not take so long under Stevie G. The Gers legend has claimed that Rodgers vs Gerrard “could be box office” and that he has no doubt that Gerrard would bring the correct mentality to Glasgow with him. The job in front of the 37-year-old is colossal. Brendan Rodgers needs just one more win in the Scottish Cup Final to complete the first-ever double treble in Scottish football, whilst Rangers sit 3rd and a whopping 13 points behind the Bhoys in Green.
