Chris Sutton made 199 appearances for Celtic during a six-year spell at the club in the 2000s and, on last night’s evidence, it seems that he still has a deeply-felt affection for the Hoops.
The 46-year-old was on co-commentary duty on BT Sport for Celtic’s Europa League game against Lazio, and he would end up eliciting plenty of reaction from Hoops supporters on social media.

With the teams level at 1-1 in stoppage time, Lazio’s Valon Berisha lost the ball in midfield and Odsonne Edouard seized upon possession. He then played it to Olivier Ntcham, who lofted the ball over goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha to send the travelling Celtic fans into delirium. [via Daily Record]
Their ecstasy was mirrored by Sutton in the commentary box, who indulged in a lengthy bout of cheering and shouted “Wow, wow, wow”, making no effort to conceal his leanings towards his former club. [via @btsportfootball]
These Celtic fans on Twitter couldn’t get enough of the ex-Hoops striker’s partisan outburst:
