Celtic: Fans not happy as club congratulate Feyenoord

Celtic have recently posted on Twitter congratulating Feyenoord for their European Cup win 50 years ago, and a lot of the Hoops fanbase are not happy with the tweet.

It was the Dutch side’s first ever European trophy, via Transfermarkt, and it came at the Celts expense. Clearly fans are still not over the loss as they flooded to the tweet with comments saying ‘please delete’. Feyenoord managed to beat the Scottish side 2-1 in 1970, via BBC Sport, giving them the title, whilst making the Bhoys losers in a European Cup final for the first time.

Sadly they could not repeat their remarkable achievement in 1967 of lifting the trophy, per Transfermarkt, and it is understandable to see fans not happy as that historic cup win is still the only trophy they have won on the continent.

They came so close again in 2002/03 but lost the UEFA Cup final 3-2 to Portuguese side FC Porto, via UEFA.com, and one fan hoped the club will not tweet similar on the anniversary of that final as they said: “Don’t even think about tweeting Porto later this month”.
