On Sunday, Celtic hosted the first Old Firm derby of the season and whilst it was a much closer affair than the previous two meetings, it wasn’t an entertaining one. An Olivier Ntcham strike gave the Hoops a 1-0 win but one particular incident in the first half has irked Celtic fans. Allan McGregor kicked out at Kristoffer Ajer and according to BBC Sports, he’ll go unpunished.

Steven Gerrard has made some serious progress with his Rangers side, although so far, they’ve failed to show that in the league and once again it was Brendan Rodgers’ side who prevailed in the Old Firm. The Hoops were never going to mind how they got the three points as long as they got them, and whilst the 1-0 win was hardly pretty, it was effective. The icing on the cake, though, would have been a retrospective ban for Allan McGregor.
It’s clear as day that the 36-year-old goalkeeper took a kick at Ajer as the defender was trying to return to his feet after throwing himself at a set-piece and most of the Bhoys are in shock as to how three former category one officials can’t agree on the fact that it was a red card offence. Whilst watching the incident it’s obvious that McGregor has taken a swipe and gone for Ajer and it should have been punished, but to the surprise of many, the Scottish goalkeeper has got away with it.

The fans are obviously fuming with the McGregor decision and will be even more annoyed if any of their players receives a retrospective ban for similar.
