When Celtic were drawn to face Valencia in the Europa League round of 32 no one expected it to be an easy tie. The Bhoys let themselves down in the home leg, losing 2-0 and near enough sealing the tie. However, they gave it a really good go in Spain and impressed with their performance, with Kristoffer Ajer shining on the night.
At times the 20-year-old Norwegian can look lost for the Bhoys, but last night it was clear what he was in the side to do and he shone throughout. The youngster is as versatile as they come and has been of great use to Brendan Rodgers this season, being able to fit in at centre-back, holding midfield and right-back when he’s needed, the towering defensive unit has come in handy for the Hoops.
Last night was one of Ajer’s best performance in a Celtic shirt. He may be young and he may have missed a glorious chance to open the scoring at the Mestalla, but when he’s not in the side to score the goals it’s hard to blame him, especially when the youngster was so assured and composed at the back throughout the game. The result may not have been what the fans were after, but the performance was exceptional and Ajer will certainly have played his way onto the radar of some clubs after that display.

Celtic fans everywhere were delighted with Ajer’s performance and whilst he couldn’t cap it with a goal the fans still loved seeing him play so well.
