The Daily Record has come under criticism from both Rangers and Celtic fans for exaggerating stories and painting their players and clubs in a bad light. This time around, it’s The Hoops who are annoyed as a story that claims Marvin Compper has gone on a rant about his lack of game time simply isn’t true.
‘Even my team mates think I should play’: Marvin Compper slams Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers in astonishing rant https://t.co/phYipCVe7d pic.twitter.com/Wf1RTkoZW9

This story is an easy one to buy into. Compper joined Celtic back in January from RB Leipzig and considering that The Hoops next game comes in the Europa League against Compper’s former employees the Daily Record will have been keen to twist the German’s words. According to the article, Compper went on a ‘rant’ about Brendan Rodgers and his lack of game time, but he mostly talks about his injury woes and how he doesn’t want to be on the bench.
Compper also claims that over the summer the club tried to sell him but he wanted to stay and fight for his place, saying that he paid for a fitness coach at his own expense to overcome a calf injury and get fit. In truth, you can understand why Compper is frustrated and being 33-years-old, he will want to be playing first-team football whilst he still can. Either way, though, his words have been made to sound worse than they are and the Bhoys have been quick to rubbish the reports.

You don't know what rant means, do you?

Or "astonishing". What would be astonishing is if he were happy with the situation. Weasel words from the DR.

The Hoops are far from happy with this story and will hope The Daily Record can just stop writing about their players.
