Celtic have a number of players who the fans don’t exactly love getting behind. One of those is Nir Bitton, the Israeli midfielder who turns 27 today. Bitton is currently sidelined with a knee injury and when the club took to Twitter to wish him a happy birthday, the fans were far from complimentary about the 27-year-old.

Bitton has been a Celtic player for an incredible five years now, making 171 appearances for the club as a defensive midfielder and a centre-back. He is yet to make an appearance for The Hoops this season owing to his injury and last season saw him make just 23 appearances for the club under Brendan Rodgers. The fans would happily see him sold and would like to see someone else brought in to fill his role.
In the midfielder’s time in Glasgow he’s had a great time adding to his trophy cabinet. Five Scottish Premier League’s, two Scottish Cups and two Scottish League Cups are a healthy return for the bit-part fringe man and whilst he won’t be the first choice in midfield when he returns from his knee injury, he’ll be happy to carry on playing here and there and winning trophies.

The sign behind his head seems quite appropriate.

Where’s bitton?

The fans haven’t seen Bitton in so long and a lot of them wouldn’t have any problems with him leaving.
