To Celtic fans, 21-year-old Patrick Roberts will always be a special little player. The youngster signed for the Hoops on-loan for both the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons but this season has seen the Manchester City man opt to sign for Girona this season and he hasn’t started well. The winger is yet to start and has accumulated just 67 minutes over five substitute appearances in Spain.

This Celtic fan took notice of Roberts’ La Liga woes and has questioned how the move to Spain has been beneficial for his career. To be fair, he has got a point. At Celtic, young Roberts shone and became a fan favourite pretty quickly even though the fans knew he wouldn’t be sticking around when the season ended last year. Now, though, the Hoops are keen to see their club swoop to sign the youngster permanently in January.
In 78 appearances for Celtic over two seasons, Roberts managed to bag himself 18 goals and 26 assists and getting that return from a winger is something special. Most fans would take him back in a heartbeat and it would be no surprise to see Brendan Rodgers opt to bring the English winger in when he next gets the chance given how lucrative life in Scotland was for the ex-Fulham man.
You can read The Bhoys’ verdict on Roberts here:
I expected him to be a huge success wherever he went. I'd love to think Brendan could take him for a relatively low price in January. His limited appearances in Spain might make that appealing for all concerned. The signing of Paddy would give the support and team a huge lift.

Bring him back to his spiritual home.
He needs it and by Christ, we could do with some of his magic.

Maybe Celtic should have made more than a derisory offer if they rate him that highly.

Plenty of Celtic fans would happily bring Roberts back to Parkhead and would love the move to be a permanent one.
