Celtic: Fans praise Jeremie Frimpong after tweeting his support for Jackie McNamara

A number of Celtic fans have praised young defender Jeremie Frimpong after he tweeted his support for former Hoops player Jackie McNamara [via @JeremieFrimpong].

According to The Guardian, the 46-year-old was admitted to hospital for brain surgery in recent days after reportedly collapsing near his home in York on Saturday, with his family subsequently stating that the ex-Celtic defender is receiving “the best care possible” in hospital (as per Sky Sports).

McNamara spent almost a full decade at Celtic between October 1995 and June 2005, making more than 300 appearances for the Parkhead club and scoring 15 goals (as per Soccerbase). He won 10 trophies during his time with the Hoops, including four league titles (as per TransferMarkt).

Fellow right-back Frimpong, who was only four-and-a-half years old when McNamara last played for Celtic, has made 16 first team appearances so far in his debut campaign for the club after joining from Manchester City last year and has earned high praise from team-mate and captain Scott Brown, who told the Daily Record that he “will be worth serious money in a few years”.

These Hoops fans on Twitter showed their appreciation for Frimpong’s heartfelt show of support for McNamara:
