Celtic confirmed on their official website celticfc.net on Wednesday morning that defender Jack Hendry has completed a loan move to Australian A-League club Melbourne City until the end of the season, with the news subsequently shared on Twitter via @CelticFC.

The 24-year-old centre-back had fallen out of favour at Parkhead under Neil Lennon, under whom he played a paltry 11 minutes in as many months since the current Hoops boss began his second spell in charge of the club. His solitary appearance under Lennon came towards the end of a 5-0 Betfred Cup thrashing of Partick Thistle last September.
Such was the nature of Hendry’s decline at Celtic in recent months that Nir Bitton, who has played in midfield for the bulk of his career, has made 13 appearances at centre-back this season, with Lennon preferring to move the Israeli out of his natural position rather than picking the 24-year-old Scot.
Hendry is the second defender to be loaned out by the club in recent days, with Lee O’Connor switching to Partick Thistle, and these Celtic fans on Twitter didn’t exactly give their backing to the Melbourne-bound centre-back upon hearing of his loan move:

Are you glad to see Hendry going out on loan or should Celtic have sold him outright? Can you see any way back for him at Parkhead in the future? Join in the discussion by commenting below!
