Celtic supporters have been relatively quiet in the last few hours after seeing their side only muster a draw upon return to domestic action following the international break.
Brendan Rodgers’ men went into their meeting with St Mirren on Friday night off the back of beating bitter rivals Rangers in their previous Scottish Premiership encounter, and thus full of confidence ahead of their trip to St Mirren Park. Yet an Olivier Ntcham red card eight minutes before half time left the Bhoys with much work to do to get something from the clash, eventually earning a 0-0 draw to close the gap on leaders Hearts to two points.
As such, there have been many frustrated Celtic fans up and down the country in recent times, yet their mood is likely to have improved following the announcement that striker Leigh Griffiths has signed a new long-term deal with the club.
Four more years!
@Leighgriff09 has signed a new contract with #CelticFC until the summer of 2022. #LG2022

The 28-year-old made the move to Parkhead back in 2014 after a three-year stint at Wolves, and he has since been an absolute revelation north of the border in scoring 100 goals in 192 appearances for Rodgers’ side.
And with 13 of those coming last term in their run to all three domestic trophies, as well as two already this time round, the Scotland international again looks set to play a key role for the Bhoys this season, and the club have acted to tie him down to a new four-year deal.
And the announcement has unsurprisingly stimulated quite a reaction from Celtic fans on Twitter, with plenty of them absolutely buzzing…

Good piece of business. Dedicated to the club and a proven goal scorer. Plus we’ve only Edouard and Griff as recognised strikers at the moment. He’ll ensure great competition for the team and bang in plenty more goals I’m sure.
