Reacting to a post on Twitter, plenty of Celtic fans have been discussing manager Neil Lennon and Jonny Hayes in response to the lack of football action – with a couple of fans jokingly stating that he ‘should be starting’.
Hayes, who has started just five games this season under Lennon (WhoScored), making the vast majority of his appearances from the substitutes’ bench, has had to settle for a place behind the likes of James Forrest and Mohamed Elyounoussi – playing a bit-part role as Celtic climbed to the SPFL summit before football’s suspension due to recent events.
The Republic of Ireland international signed at Parkhead back in 2017 from Aberdeen after impressing for the Dons, scoring nine goals and assisting 19 others over 32 league appearances (Transfermarkt). Now, with Celtic supporters missing football action, they have even flocked to discuss Hayes despite his growing irrelevance and distance from the starting line up.
