Celtic: Fans react with cynicism to Neil Lennon’s praise of new signing Ismaila Soro

Many Celtic fans are not convinced by Neil Lennon’s words of praise for new signing Ismaila Soro, with @CelticFC sharing some of the manager’s comments on the midfielder.

The Ivorian’s arrival from Bnei Yehuda was confirmed on Monday, with international clearance approved after he had completed his medical last week. Speaking to celticfc.net, Lennon spoke highly of the 21-year-old, saying: “He has good potential. He can drive, hold up the ball, pass it and break up play, so I’m hoping he can bring all those attributes to the team. He’ll add strength to the midfield so, at the minute, we’re definitely stronger.”

However, some of the club’s fans are taking Lennon’s praise of the Ivorian with a pinch of salt, referencing the fortunes of a few of the manager’s summer signings. Luca Connell, Jonathan Afolabi and Lee O’Connor have all yet to make a senior appearance, with the latter two since loaned out to Dunfermline and Partick Thistle respectively. Left-back Greg Taylor is still at Celtic but has played just six times since his arrival from Kilmarnock last September.

Here is a portion of the reaction from Celtic fans unconvinced by Lennon’s endorsement of Soro:
