Celtic: Fans recall Joe Ledley’s crucial goal

A lot of Celtic fans have been raving about Joe Ledley following a club post on Twitter recalling the midfielder’s crucial match-winning header against arch-rivals Rangers.

The Hoops had won their last eleven games in a row, and this had made for an entertaining title race. When they came to face Rangers just before new year, both sides knew that whoever won would go top of the league, via Celtic FC.

The thrilling match was 0-0 until the second half when Charlie Mulgrew swung a corner towards the back post, and against numerous opposition defenders, it was Welsh international Ledley, via Transfermarkt, who rose highest to head the ball into the net. This secured first place going into 2012 and The Bhoys eventually won the league title that campaign.

The midfielder enjoyed four seasons in Scotland, managing a very respectable 30 goals and 24 assists in 157 appearances, via Transfermarkt. As well as winning the title in the 2011/12 season, Ledley also helped them win it two more times whilst also lifting the Scottish Cup twice.
