Many Celtic fans have shared their anger on Twitter after Vakoun Issouf Bayo was sent off for a second bookable offence in their Europa League match with Rennes.
The Hoops travelled to Brittany and managed to salvage a point against the French side after Ryan Christie buried a penalty to equalise.
M’Baye Niang opened the scoring from the spot for the French side after Kristoffer Ajer brought him down in the Celtic area.
Bayo was sent off despite coming on as a substitute, with the second yellow card being a particularly contentious decision. Replays suggest that the forward had made limited contact with goalkeeper Edouard Mendy’s head. Thankfully, the card came with only a few minutes to play and the Bhoys were able to finish the game with a point to kick off their group stage campaign.
The result didn’t stop Celtic fans from voicing their discontent, as they responded in droves to the Celtic club Twitter account after the red card, lambasting the referee not only for that decision but his whole performance.
